Are looking for ways to make money online?
Some common ways to make money online are; affiliate programs, the Google Adsense program, PPC or pay per click advertising, cost per action advertising, network marketing, blogging, or developing your own product and selling it by any of the above methods. Many of these methods may be inter-twined into a marketing system.
The Google Adsense program works by you hosting a website with specific content, take how to train dogs, for example. You build the website and write the content, then you place a small piece of code on your site, and Google displays ads based on the content of your page. Each time a visitor clicks on your ad, you are paid. Once your account reaches the $100 minimum threshold, Google sends you a check or does a direct deposit to your bank account. Other than the cost of a domain name and hosting account, the Google Adsense program is free with a Google account. The concept here is quality original content, and well-placed code to create a clicking environment for your visitors. A similar program to Adsense is the Kontera program. The difference is where Google places ads on your page; Kontera uses words on your page to create links to ads or other sites. Personally, I use both on my sites, as they do not conflict with each other.
PPC, or pay per click advertising. This method has many uses. Some of the most common are advertising affiliate products you pick up through clickbank.com, amazon.com, commissionjunction.com, or any of the other affiliate product based websites out there. You can also use this method to sell your own product. This method can be set up on any of the major search engines, i.e., Google, Yahoo, and/or MSN / Bing. You will have to pay for each click you receive so it is best to find products that sell well and have a reasonable commission attached. A nice benefit to some hosting accounts if you decide to start a website is they will give you $10-$50 in free advertising credits for one of the search engines.
Cost Per Action networks... I am not sure why I put this one as common as it is a bit more advanced. The concept of this strategy is to pick ads from a network and run a PPC campaign in an attempt to buy traffic for a lower cost than you would make in the commission of the action, hence, the cost per action: cost = your commission paid by the advertiser. Some elites out there can earn millions per year with this method though, so it is something that is worth looking in to. The concept itself is used when you get a different affiliate product and use pay per click to sell it. If that is your method, you are trying to buy traffic for less money than you make selling the product. One of the main differences is most network offers you would use this method with are tangible products, i.e., diet pills, health supplements, skin care products, etc. whereas the affiliate products are in most cases digital and accessed by a website.
Network Marketing: This is the typical home based business set up where you join as a rep or distributor, get a marketing kit, some sample products and begin following their system. I do like network marketing because if you have a strong work ethic, you can make good money, and the corporate has to deal with the running of the business. Your primary role is selling/marketing product, and maybe building a sales team if that is in you.
Blogging is growing into a nice little niche area to make money these days. Personally, I have only started to blog for profit, but am finding some great initial successes. The search engines seem to enjoy blogs and provide them with rankings that are more favorable because the content is fresh and updated on a weekly, daily, even hourly basis. By blogging about niche concepts, product reviews, and so on, you can build some decent traffic where you can host Adsense/Kontera ads, offer affiliate products, host cost per action ads, and much more. There are some great resources available for low costs that help with developing a blog in the correct way that I have also discovered and now use on a daily basis.
Lastly, for the purpose of this article, another option you have is developing your own product and using the methods above to sell it. Developing a product is not as hard as it sounds. One of the best ways to develop a product is to find a common problem among people, interview people that have solved that problem, and create an educational product to teach others how to do what the others have already done. Really, the last time I checked there was a ton of problems in the world and not that many great... or even mediocre answers.
I hope you got some value and some initial areas to research in your quest to make money online.
